ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

So I've been noticing in both my own journal and communities that I haven't been able to see some comments even thought it says there are more comments there than are actually showing up. Instead I'm getting a place holder that says (Spam comment) or (Suspicious comment).

Why are these showing up like this you may ask? In their rush to fight spam LJ has created a new filter that're AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON in ALL journals and communities, which screens comments that are made with 'suspicious links' ie links that are not on their safe whitelist, so pretty much the majority of the internet. There is no noted way to add to the 'whitelist'.

What really gets me is that they didn't inform people that they were doing this until a week after it was done and that it was automatically turned on.

So how do I turn it off you might ask.

That's simple. Go to your Settings, click on the Privacy tab, and half way down where it says Spam Protection uncheck the box next to "Comments containing a link to a non-whitelisted domain will be marked as spam and moved to a special section." This applies to both personal journal and communities and the opinion has to be manually changed in each one.

While I understand how this could be a good idea, I think they went about it in a very backhanded way, and have implemented it poorly. There was no message to anyone that the link has been screened. It's automatically done. This went on for over a week before they said anything about it. There is still nothing in the FAQs about it even. The only way I found out about this way going through the support pages where people were reporting similar issues.

Please share this!

ETA: This links really illustrates the problems.

//Soooo, yeah, LJ are being IDIOTS once again. You cannot edit the white-list. You cannot even SEE the whitelist. (which I guess I understand, but you have millions of users using thousands (if not millions) of different websiste w/o malicious or spam-y intent. And once again you have to OPT OUT instead of going opt in. I really don't like that D:
gorgeous noms

Naja, gottseidank hab ich eine Mitbewohnerin hahah, die darf mich dann am Montag reinlassen :D!

Today is Nakama release Anni-day. It is going to be epic and I already saved up on GIFs to properly celebrate the occasion :D.
Dec.16.10 - RIP Delicious

So yahoo is shutting down delicious, my one source for fanfic links and where i might not have many links but it's where I found much of my fic and could write my own notes quickly and easily. Plus tags.

Why then would they implement a new feature (which i still think sucks) only to shut it down shortly afterward?

for the first time in like... a bajillion years i have actually made my own icon, look at it, i love it so :D

So, I wanted to see Inception in English, but when the only available screening in English is a) sold out and b) only available TWICE (three times at most) IT'S LIKE THEY WANT ME TO GO ILLEGAL. I refuse to watch the dub, I hate 99% of all German dubs, and what with me depending on mouth-reading it just gets fucking confusing when I watch dubs. Also: I wanted to hear Eames' English accent. I bet he sounds totally boring in German. I'm not shilling out 8 € to get my ears assaulted.

So Inception...Collapse )
And more importantly:

Nakama Anniversary The link isn't live yet since aripie is working like a madman to revamp the site :D, but it should come online later today! This is my third Anniversary, and the second in which i've done some editing. But this time I'm actually gonna continue editing, since I actually have an idea now of what I'm doing with Photoshop :D!
I can't wait to see all the projects in their finished state :))))

ETA: And the site is live!
